How to install or get Google assistant on Android Lollipop? (Home Button TAP Solved)

You can easily get Google Assistant on Android Lollipop provided that your phone is rooted. There are many articles on the internet that say you must be on marshmallow or nougat to be able use the Google assistant but I myselves have tried the below methods and it worked for me.If you follow the below procedures step by step, I'm sure you will be able to install it on your device.FYI I have tested it with Lenovo a6000 plus and Wlaton PRIMO GF4 with stock ROM running on Android L 5.0.2.

Here are some screenshots

So I will share two methods for doing this.

Using Xposed
2. Using Lucky Patcher ( this is actually easy but I'm not sure if it will work on all devices ).

METHOD 1: USING XPOSED

WARNING: Although the process is quite safe, try this at your own risk. I won't be responsible for any damage that you do to your device.

Requirements :

1. A Rooted phone

2. Custom recovery installed (preferably CWM or TWRP)

3. Xposed Framework zip file

4. Xposed installer apk

5. Time and patience.

NOTE: You can get the XF zip file and Xposed installer apk from above link.Choose the file according to your device configurations like API level, kernel architecture etc. I recommend to install CPU Z app to find that out.

STEPS :

1. Go to play store, find 'Google app' in your list of installed apps, click it. Scroll all the way down and you will see a window that says ''Become a beta tester "Press I'm in. It takes some time to register. When it is completed, download the beta version of google app.Exit.

2. After you have downloaded appropriate Xposed Framework zip file, place it on your SD card, switch off your phone and go to recovery mode(done using some key combinations. In my case it was Vol up+Vol down+Power button).

3. Select Install option in recovery mode(I'm using TWRP) and locate the zip file on your sd card.Select it and swipe to flash. After flashing is successful, click on 'wipe cache and dalvik cache'.Reboot to system.(You may see a screen "Android is upgrading". Let it take its time ).

4. Now install Xposed installer apk and open the app. It should indicate Xposed Framework installed.

5. Go to the download section and search for Assistant enabler module. Download and install it.Though it says it works for marshmallow and up, it will work on lollipop. Now go to modules section and enable it.Open the app assistant enabler and enable the option 'ok google everywhere'.Don't enable google now option.

6. Reboot your device. Go to system settings and find Google app, click on manage space, and clear all data.

7. Launch google app. Complete the initial setup.Go to app settings and enable ok google detection from any screen.Complete the setup by saying ok google three times.( If it doesn't listen, check that you don't have any accessibility services enabled in system settings and try again).

8. Now Say Ok google and VOILA !!! Google assistant at your service.

If you face any lag or app is crashing, just reboot your phone. If there is still any problem, clear google app data by going to system settings and follow step 6.If the issue is still not solved, try the second method(skip step 1).

METHOD 2: USING LUCKY PATCHER

1. Go to play store, find 'Google app' in your list of installed apps, click it. Scroll all the way down and you will see a window that says ''Become a beta tester "Press I'm in. It takes some time to register. When it is completed, download the beta version of google app.Exit.

2. Download and install Lucky patcher latest apk. Open the app and download/update custom patches.

3. Find Google app. Below the App name, it shows that custom patch available.Click on it, select 'open menu of patches' and then apply custom patch. When it is finished, launch google app.

4. Select ok google detection 'from any screen' and complete the setup by saying ok google three times.( If it doesn't listen, check that you don't have any accessibility services enabled in system settings and try again)

5. Now say 'ok google' and Google Assistant will pop up.Enjoy !!!
